So what is
it about Golf Carts on North Captiva Anyway?
The main means
of transportation on North Captiva Island are battery powered golf
carts. This makes for a totally unique experience.
North Captiva
is approximately 4 miles long. At the Northern end are 200 homes
scattered in 550 acres of tropical vegitation. Travelling amongst
the palms are 8 miles of sandy pathways. - These are our roads.
The result is
an unbelievably quiet and safe environment no cars roaring about,
not one inch of pavement, no gas and no cash.
Its hard to
convey how these carts change your attitude on this island, how
going to the store or beach becomes an adventure. How spending time
just driving around is a favorite pastime. And how waving to any
passing cart seems to be the most natural thing to do, possibly
because you are both sharing some special feeling.
